RJ Marchand
A silver-tongued and charismatic rebel, RJ Marchand began performing stand-up comedy seven years ago by sneaking into open mics as a minor in Birmingham, Alabama. His candor and quick-witted retorts to hecklers on stage earned him attention, and he soon began booking comedy showcases. Confident in his presence and opinions, RJ is regarded as a thoughtful comic whose writing elevates personal comfort within discomfort, social commentary, and the edge that reminds you how appealing the unexpected can be.
His storytelling encourages the audience to gain new perspectives by enriching their outlooks and choosing to embrace the comedic lens with all experiences. RJ loves to deliver “ass-crushing” sets that cast a wide net to reach everyone—college crowds, working professionals, and old-school comedy enthusiasts. From metropolitan and rural areas, house shows to comedy clubs, empty rooms to sold out venues, he loves performing comedy and devotes himself to improving.

HOSTING NEWS
As the original host of the Druid City Brewing Company’s Open Mic, RJ Marchand started and ran a successful mic for two years before stepping down to pursue new stages and to connect with new audiences by bringing them laughter.
The dedicated and ever-growing comedy scene in Tuscaloosa has seen the DCBC mic through five consecutive years, and RJ has worked in the background to celebrate his roots all the while seeking and placing in comedy competitions and landing featured and headlining gigs around the South.
After honing his comedic chops for the last three years, RJ is excited to return to hosting by bringing high-level comedy acts and entertainment to Nocturnal Tavern in Tuscaloosa at his monthly showcase, “Comedy Break-In.”
